Like so many others, for the last year, the work of REfUSE has been shaped by the demands of the Covid lockdowns. We’ve felt so privileged to be able to respond quickly and effectively to community needs at a time that for many has been marked by uncertainty, loss and struggle: intercepting 11 tonnes of food each month to put well over 80,000 meals on tables around County Durham.
Like many organisations and businesses, we’re so pleased to see the end of Covid restrictions in sight so we can start making plans for the future. Lines in the sand which, we hope, will not need to be redrawn almost as soon as they are put down.
We’ve been working hard to ensure that REfUSE can continue to serve our community for years to come. This has meant that in 2021, thanks to a huge amount of support from the public via our Crowdfunder campaign as well as other major grants and loans, we’ve tripled the size of our kitchen and storage areas. We are increasing our capacity, growing our catering business, we have signed a new 10 year lease and are re-designing our training and support for volunteers.
As part of this re-opening, we’re so pleased to say that we’re recruiting 2 new roles who will join our REfUSE staff team. We’re looking for a part-time chef for our Conscious Kitchen catering, and a full-time Front of House Manager for the café.
If you want to be part of a dynamic team, making a huge impact in County Durham, then please take a look at our two new roles by reading the job descriptions below, we’d love to hear from you! If not applying, please help us find the right people by sharing our posts about these jobs with friends and on social media!
