Christmas Day: can you help?

We’re aiming to feed up to 80 people on Christmas Day, a very special dinner made from crazy amounts of surplus food supermarkets throw away on Christmas Eve. We are taking bookings from local organisations supporting people experiencing homelessness, mental health issues and loneliness, along with lots of our cafe regulars and volunteers. It promises to be a fun-filled festive day. More info here.

HOW CAN YOU HELP for CHRISTMAS?

*Donate Christmas presents!*
We want to go all-out to make sure everyone who joins us on Christmas Day is made to feel warm and fuzzy. We’d love donations of stocking-fillers like hats, scarves, socks, soap sets, notebooks and pens, boxes of chocolates/biscuits… please bring in to the café, if they could be wrapped that would be even more of a bonus – as long as labelled clearly in terms of age and gender suitability!

*Donate bits and bobs (or monetary donations for us to buy those bits and bobs)*
We need: wrapping paper, Christmas cards, board games or small table top games, cranberry sauce.

*Give lifts or play music*
Family commitments for dinner time, but able to give one or two hours? We need a few people to provide lifts from Durham to Chester-le-Street, and back at the end. We also really need someone to lead us in some carols! Anyone who plays the piano, guitar, or anything else!? For either of these, please get in touch with Nikki: nikki@refusedurham.org.uk

*Spread the word*
We still have places left for people to attend on Christmas Day. If you know of anyone who might be lonely or struggling at this time of year, please take 2 minutes to fill in this form, and we’ll be in touch.
